The Assistant Maintenance Person based in the East Rand supports the upkeep of buildings and facilities by assisting with general repairs, minor renovations and routine maintenance. Working under the guidance of the Maintenance Person, the role helps ensure that sites remain safe, functional and well maintained. Tasks may include basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, tiling and painting work.
Job description
The Assistant Maintenance Person assists with general building maintenance, repairs and minor renovations across company sites. Working under the guidance of the Maintenance Person, the role includes helping with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, tiling, painting, wall and ceiling repairs. The Assistant Maintenance Person also supports the preparation of maintenance reports and invoices, and helps keep work areas, tools and equipment clean, safe and organised.
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12.
- At least one year of general maintenance or handyman experience.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, tiling and painting.
- Basic understanding of workplace health and safety.
- Familiarity with common hand tools and maintenance equipment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual work.
- Reliable, trustworthy and able to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel between sites and work overtime or standby when required.
